Guess What?

I'm an RA next year! In Heritage. I don't know what building yet. My letter finally came today (hallelujah) so now I can calm down and start planning next year. I'm pretty stoked for it :D

We're celebrating tomorrow with some Martinelli's, some chips & salsa, and... some chocolate cake. I'm waaaaay happy for tomorrow night. We'll also be having a fort in the kitchen, but my roommates don't know that yet, so don't tell them.

Lemon Pine Sol & Enrichment

Walking to class the other day, I smelled something familiar. Lemon Pine Sol. Once a month, all of Heritage (all 25-ish buildings) has cleaning checks. This week was that special week. Some apartment either in Horne, Harris, or whatever the building perpindicular to them, went a little overboard on their cleaning. Don't get me wrong, it's great that they actually did the cleaning for their cleaning check, but I shouldn't be able to smell it outside, should I? Here's how I look at it:

Our apartment has a few girls who take cleaning checks to a whole new level, using as much Pine Sol/Lysol as possible... from the inside it smells, a lot. From the lobby, you can kind of tell. But from outside, one would have no idea it was cleaning checks unless the window was open and we were talking about it being cleaning checks. As I walked past this especially stinky building it made me laugh. Do they really have someone that has OCD as bad as my two roommates when it comes to cleaning checks? I could NOT believe it! haha

Now, tonight is our cleaning check. Throughout the day we've lost the ability to use things: the shower, the oven, the microwave, the dishwasher, the toilet... as is the story on all cleaning check days. We lost the ability to use the oven last night though... so for dinner tonight, we ordered pizza from Brick Oven. Oh my goodness. I love pizza from Brick Oven. And their root beer. Not quite as good at home as it is there, but oh man alive, Brick Oven almost makes the scent of cleaning checks worth it!

Also today... this morning we had Enrichment. Which really seems like a Hall Activity, as there is no difference except who is planning it. For this enrichment we had a PJs party and ate breakfast. As I correctly assumed, we had a lesson on improving our Prayers, Journals, and Scripture Study (hence the PJS party...). This PJS party was way cooler than the one we had when I was a Beehive. Some girl's cousin came to talk about Journaling... and she was AMAZING. Her journals were super cool. I was talking to her about how I write in a journal, and keep a blog, and she recommended me printing my blog entries and putting them together so I don't have to write everything that I blog about in my journal later. So after Enrichment was done, I came home and started copy/pasting blog entries into a Word doc. I've printed August, November, December, January and February. I'm pretty excited to see how this all works out.

Thank Heaven it's the Beginning of a New Week!

Ahhhhh! All I can say is that I'm glad that last week is over. Everybody is starting to flip out about housing, and there is a whole lot of drama regarding who is living where, who they are living with, who they aren't living with, who they want to live with, etc. My problem, is that I haven't heard back from housing yet about being an RA (they hoped we would know by Friday... so it's not that big of a deal yet that I haven't heard yet) so I don't know if I need to join in the drama or not. Mostly I'm choosing to stay completely out of it, although it's hard when you have roommates crying. The guys in our ward are so lucky. They don't have to deal with housing at all. They just send in their mission papers, andt hen have their moms find them housing while they are gone. All I can do is sit back and wait for the mail man to bring me my letter, and then I can start freaking out. I have an idea of what I'll do if I'm not an RA, but I haven't actually gone and looked at the apartments yet.

This weekend was Girls Night In. I wish I had cool pictures to show you what we did, but it was not a very successful Girls Night In. We spent like 30 minutes trying to take a picture of us making a pyramid, but the girl on top kept getting cut off. We finally got a decent picture, but I don't have a copy yet. I'll post it later if I ever get it. That was pretty much the only cool thing we did. There is a ton of tension between some of the girls, so it was more like torture, being locked in our apartment together without anybody else. We ate pizza, watched a movie (Little Rascals) and that was pretty much it. We would've been in bed and asleep by 1:00, but around then 4 us realized we still needed to do our reading for Book of Mormon, so we decided to read outloud together so we wouldn't fall asleep.

The cool news... is that the boys in our ward are starting to all get their mission calls. Last week, one apartment, 202, had two people get their calls, and it's super exciting. Brazil & the Phillipines. My old FHE brother, Taylor, and our old dad, Trevor, also got their mission calls in the last few weeks. Taylor is going to the same mission as the guy from 202 to Brazil. Trev is going to Argentina I think. I can't wait til my boys in 204, and our brothers in 205 start getting their calls. There are a ton of guys just waiting now, so exciting! I got a text tonight froma friend who lives in Helaman who said that Greg (Dennis & Janyse's nephew) got his call and is going to Belgium. It's an exciting time here at BYU.

This week I have an essay due, a test (or two), and an optional essay due. It's going to be a... fun week I think.

It's sad to see our apartment kind of falling apart. Instead of us being all really close, or atleast in 2 groups, we've broken into 4. Two groups of two, and two girls completely on their own. The silly thing is that those two girls that are on their own are choosing that. One chooses to go home all the time, and the other just comes home to sleep and be angry. It's frustrating when she always walks in the door in a bad mood and then just gets angry at us for nothing. This is really helping me get excited to go home in a little while though. Even though I have to go home and work a lot, at least I get to be home, and living in a less hostile environment.

Wow... enough of my ranting now. It's time for Ward Prayer, and maybe I'll learn of more guys who have gotten their calls now!

Happy Half Birthday

In our apartment, we're pretty good at celebrating birthdays. We also are pretty good of getting our FHE brothers over for dinner when we are celebrating birthdays. We are also pretty good at getting birthday presents for the birthday girl (and I can say that because none of our boys have had birthdays yet). The one thing we are bad at.... is telling the boys that the reason they are coming over is that it is someones birthday.

Well, last Sunday we had our first experience with a Half Birthday. Luckily, this roommate had NO idea that it was her half birthday, and didn't think it was weird at all when another roommate was making a cake. Of course, it was Fast Sunday and the boys were coming for dinner... so we needed dessert, and this roommate had just gotten some cake decorating tips from her mom, so she "HAD" to try. Ya. Roommate equals completely gullible. We sat down for dinner, and promptly after we had all finished eating, we broke into a great rendition of Happy Half Birthday, complete with the girls signing as we sang. The cake was decorated and said "Hap Ha Birt Jen" which was hilarious. The last piece of cake was given to Brendan B. Ironically, the day we gave him the piece of cake, was HIS HALF BIRTHDAY.

The first gift we made Jenny open was a box that had batteries in it, with a note that said "Toys Not Included". This was our gag gift, as we generally do something funny. We also got her a book and an iTunes gift card. What can I say, we're the best roommates ever!

In our apartment, we have a quote wall, as do most freshman girls living in these dorms. Our quotes are written on index cards and sticky tacked onto the kitchen wall. We were recently talking about what will happen when it's time to leave. Who will get to keep the quotes? What will they do with them? How will we all remember them for the rest of our lives? SOLUTION: instead of giving the person that said the quote the index card (our initial idea), we decided that everybody who wanted to, would go to the bookstore and buy a little journal from the children's section... they are white blank notebooks, but on the cover of some of them, there is a picture (mine has 3 dinosaurs on them). We color our covers, and then on the inside you copy down the quotes you want, and near each quote we'll put the story behind the quote. It is also our intent to print some pictures to put in it too... and then our last day there, we'll write a journal entry in the back of the journal. Now.. not everybody wants to go into all this detail, but Kelli and I decided it would be the best thing in the world. We both got the dinosaur journal, and have already started coloring them. I'm super excited to have this book from my freshman year with everything hilarious and amazing in it. PROBLEM: I need a title for it. Any suggestions from you crazy siblings/friends/parents of mine? There is a box on the cover for one to put a title, so that's where it will be going. I need suggestions, very badly.

So... if you've actually read this whole post, I'm really excited. I'm getting to the point where my blog is just an addition to my journal. I've been writing in it a lot, but I can only write so much each day. The whole half birthday thing isn't mentioned at all in my journal, which is sad... but again, that's what this blog is for anyway, right?

Some Funny Things...

Alright. It's been a while since I've blogged with pictures. But guess what, my friends. Right now you are in for a real treat. You see... last night was Aerobics Night at The Central Building. It was amazing. Kelli, Anna and I got all decked out in our brightest/craziest outfits and headed down there. It was quite the party... here are some funny pics from that.

The gang that was there for the first warm-up. The group got much bigger.
This is from a while ago... but Jenga Time is very important to us in our apartment. We play competively a few nights a week. This is one of the games that we played I think right before we all went home for Christmas.

There ya have it... some crazy pics of me. As for the interview I had this week, I think it went well. I was the first interview they had, but I should know in about 2 weeks whether I get the job or not! I'll let ya know.
