For the last few days I've watched the number of posts increase and was really looking forward to my 200th post, hoping it would be something hilarious and great, typical of a Marci post. I designed the following post in my head and then logged in and realized it was my 200th. Not quite what I was going for on this once in a lifetime occasion.
It's official. I'm not going to be an RA again next year. For about two weeks I've been trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing next year, not what I wanted to do next year. After spending a few hours at the temple in those two weeks I figured out what I was supposed to do, and it wasn't living in the dorms. Turns out I love my job and the people I work with... otherwise when I told my boss over the phone that I felt like I needed to be somewhere else next year I wouldn't have stared bawling. I couldn't talk about it for a while without crying, so I had to tell the Queen of America in an email. I knew that if I tried to tell her in person I would just die. Just hitting send on my email made me cry a little. When I talk to my friends/residents/family I don't cry, I get excited about the thought of living somewhere that doesn't have cinderblock, or 58 residents for me to watch over, someplace that maybe gets the mail delivered regularly unlike my mailman who I swear is holding my mail.
Now I have to figure out who to pass the Chastity Slide onto. I was planning on keeping it for myself so I haven't done much thinking. Perhaps I'll pass it onto Kelly who is an RA this year and is coming back next year. She may appreciate it.
I'm not sure yet where I'm going to live next year, I know where I want to go but I haven't been able to sign a contract yet. Turns out when you live somewhere other than the dorms you have to pay a deposit and at least one months rent... that kind of makes me miss the dorms already, and I haven't even moved out yet. I'm hoping that the IRS process my taxes way soon and send me my refund so I can get a contract before the place I want to live fills up.
I'm not going to put on here where I want to live next year... but if you want to know, call me. I'll tell you, I just don't feel like it being on the internet for all to read.

Three years ago...
...I held the infamous "Aunt Marci sleepover". I got home from school to find nobody home so I called mom's cell phone... which she didn't answer (not that I was surprised by that though). Then I called Paul's house and was surprised to have mom answer the phone. Paul & Jeanne were at the hospital with their brand new baby so mom was watching the kids. I hopped in my car, headed to Paul's house where I got the keys to the van and Ryan and Katie, and we headed to Paige's school to pick her up. Once I got Paige, the 4 of us headed up to the hospital so we could all see the baby! I was so excited!! We listened to the Chicken Little soundtrack, or at least the song "It's the End of the World" over and over again. I finally got to meet baby Tyler. We stayed at the hospital for a little while, then we piled back in the van where I called and ordered a pizza from Papa Johns and we headed to pick it up and go home. We watched a movie (I wish I remembered what we watched) and then we headed up to what was normally called "Grandma's house" but that night was "Aunt Marci's house". I do remember that from this point, we watched a princess movie on my bed. The girls, their dolls, and I then had the first, and last, Aunt Marci Sleepover in my bed. In the morning grandma made breakfast... I hadn't learned the art of pancakes yet (pathetic, I know).
In the last three years, Tyler has grown up quite a bit. He's not the little baby that he was before, now he's a big, tough 3 year old. And for the last year and a half I've watched him grow up from college. It's been sad to not be there as he's done new things since I was spoiled enough to watch his siblings all grow up.
I'll always remember the first time I went "home" from college, for Thanksgiving my freshman year. Jeanne and the kids picked me up from the airport and met me at the Baggage Claim. The girls and Ryan ran to me and gave me hugs and Tyler kind of looked at me for a minute and then ran over to me and gave me a big hug. I wasn't sure if he would remember me very much, but he did!
And then of course there is the summer I spent at home between freshman and sophomore years where I really got to watch him grow up a bunch. The trip back home to watch the BYU football game, and this most recent Thanksgiving at home.
Batman, you're sure growing up. I can't believe you're THREE!
Happy Birthday, Tyler!

I Love to See The Temple
Last night my apartment and our FHE brothers had the opportunity to go to the Draper Temple Open House. First off, many thanks to Callin for reserving us tickets. It was so nice to go with just our FHE group than with the whole stake later. Before going through the temple they showed a short film on the importance of temples and the work that goes on in the temple. It was great. Then came the mass exodus of us from the church building (where we met to watcht the movie) up to the temple. We rode in a bus, with way more people than should have been on the bus. Then we got to the temple where they had a long stream of white tents that we walked through to get to the door. The line was huuuge, but so worth the wait. The Draper Temple is SO beautiful! I know that I walked through Mt. Timp before it was dedicated, but I was pretty young then and didn't really understand the temple then. As we walked from the Baptistry, through the Ordinance Rooms, to the Brides Dressing Room, and then the Sealing Room we were all just amazed at the gorgeous artwork in the hallways. The Brides Dressing Room was AMAZING. One of the boys I was with turned to me afterwards and told me that he loved that room and was glad that when he came to get married later he knew his bride would have a beautiful place to get ready. The whole building was just gorgeous and I LOVED it!
I love the temple! I'm really sad that I won't be in Utah for the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House this summer. But, I'm glad I'll be so close to another beautiful temple!

Friday was good
Friday was a pretty good day.
-I loved my first class of the day, I normally love Family Finance, but yesterday it was just pretty sweet.
-I saw my friend Steven and he told me that he got his mission call! He's going to Japan and he's so excited. I'm excited for him!
-I went to Stats and I actually understood it! We were reviewing for our test that is next week. I think it might end up being okay.
-I went to the temple with Allison. The older men that work at the temple are so cute! They were making us laugh so much. I had a great experience at the temple. I flipped my scriptures open and it went to D&C 6:15. That was the answer I was going to the temple for.
-As Allison & I walked home we ran into Kristina who used to be in our group of 6 RAs. She left our group in January because her health was getting bad, and I hadn't seen her since then. It was SO good to see her again, she's doing so much better now!
-As we continued walking, we walked past Kimball Hall where someone was opening his mission call, so we popped in to watch. Romania! I don't even know the kid, but it was cool to watch anyway!
-I ran to the testing center to get my test in my hand by 5 so I didn't have to pay a late fee. I got the test at 4:57. I was proud. I even did really well on the test!
-I came home from that and finished my redos for cleaning checks. They were fabulous, which made me really happy.
-I got ready to go out to dinner with my roommate Kourtney. She's in a wheelchair this weekend and we wanted to see how people would treat us differently. The guy at Panda Express made us laugh really hard, and he didn't even know it.
-We came home from dinner and I stole her wheel chair for a little while. I can pop wheelies in it, it was pretty sweet. I even learned how to turn it in our very narrow hallway. It was fun for about 5 minutes, but I'm sure if I was in a wheel chair long term it wouldn't be so fun. It gets tiring, my arms were sore after just 5minutes of riding in it.
-We got ready and we went out with Kiley to get dessert, and we met up with Kourt's brother and his friend. We had a fabulous time
-We came home and started Win a Date with Tad Hamilton. It's one of our favorite movies. I left after it was like 30 minutes into the movie and went to bed.
And that my friends, is why Friday was such a great day.
So far my Saturday has been pretty good. I woke up around 11:20, and haven't really done anything productive yet. But here is what I have to look forward to today:
-homework
-the Draper Temple Open House
-writing my talk for church tomorrow
-stalking the mailman with high hopes

a random compilation of my thoughts
I came to my blog because mom emailed me saying that she tried to comment on it but it didn't work. From there, I automatically logged in, hit "new post" and then sat for a few minutes trying to decide what there was to blog about. Then I realized that there is a lot I could blog about, but that I'm not going to, at least not yet.
I've decided that the mailman HATES me. Last Thursday the Central Building (seriously, a 1 minute walk) mailed me something and it still hasn't come yet. My next door neighbor was expecting the same piece of mail, but hers came on Saturday. Yes. The mailman hates me.
Also, my girls are doing so much better with their cleaning checks this month, I'm SO excited. The random thing though was that one of the apartments that is always pretty awesome with their cleaning had a lot to fix. That surprised me a bit, but oh well. It was just a bad day for them. Tonight I have my last two redos and then I'll be DONE til next month. YAY!
ALSO. I love my co-RAs. They are pretty much my favorites EVER. Yesterday I went to talk to Allison after RA class and we just sat on her bed talking, with the sun shining through the window. OH YEAH! IT'S SUNNY HERE. I pretty much love Allison to death. End of story.
Oreos. Why are oreos SO tasty? Every other week or so I decide "hmmm, what am I going to buy with my extra money?" and I almost always end up with a package of oreos. It reminds me of a lot of nights at Paul & Jeanne's house, eating oreos and milk in their family room while we watch tv or a movie. I come into my room with my mug of milk and my package of oreos and listen to my "songs that make me really happy" playlist on iTunes and eat away. It's amazing how quickly I can finish a package on my own. Probably unhealthy actually.
On that happy note about oreos, I think I'm going to go get out of my pajamas and get ready to head to class. And then I need to write my talk for Sunday and take a midterm.
I have a bad habit now of waiting til the last day to take midterms. It started one week because I had so many midterms and I needed to spread mine out. Now I just justify it by staying up late and thinking "well, I can't wake up early now to go to take it, I'll fall asleep at the testing center" and "well, I don't really have enough time between those classes, so I'll wait til later". Yesterday I should've studied for it more before RA class, but I took a 2 hour nap instead. But honestly, my nap was probably really good since I had 3 1/2 hours of cleaning checks last night.
Alright. Now I really will go get ready for my class.

It's A Small World...
I wish I was saying that because I had just been at Disneyland riding the ride... but no. My short post today is to say that this is a very small world. My cousin (Jason) recently became Facebook friends with the assistant manager at my work. As far as I can tell they didn't go to school together, they didn't serve missions together, and I don't think they grew up together. I did what any normal person does. I wrote on Jason's Facebook wall asking him how he knew Dan, and when I go to RA class today I'm going to ask Dan how he knows Jason. It just blows my mind when people that I know for very different reasons (family, and work) know each other. CRAZY!

My Weekend... in a nutshell
This long weekend has been... kind of nice, kind of boring, kind of really relaxing. Overall I think it was great.
Thursday: Roommate 2 & 3 left
Friday:
-I went to both of my classes
-I had a meeting with my financial aid advisor
-I hung out with my old roommate, Kelli
-I did my stats homework
-I took a nap
-I watched tv
-I went to Divine Comedy
-I called mom a view times
-I talked to Paul
-I played a lot of Solitaire
Saturday:
-I helped set up for the big Housing Dance
-I got Jamba with Mindy & Allison
-I returned movies to the bookstore
-I rented movies from the bookstore
-I watched said movies
-I ate a frozen pizza thing made on french bread
-I roved
-I played solitaire
-I watched Win a Date With Tad Hamilton
Sunday:
-I went to church
-I had the coolest hall meeting planned but felt like I needed to change it during church... and wait til next week
-I had a hall meeting that was super low key
-The Queen of American showed up at my hall meeting, I felt dumb because it wasn't really much of a meeting
-I played in the lobby with The Queen of America's son
-I made dinner for Jacob and Braedon
-I ate dinner
-I went to ward prayer... where we got our assignments for Sacrament Meeting next week (our FHE group is in charge). One of the topics for the talks was the topic of the hall meeting I had planned, so I volunteered to give it. Now I just need to tweek the lesson plan so it isn't geared towards just girls.
-I watched Elizabethtown as I went to bed
-I couldn't fall asleep right away so I made lists of goals and such on my computer
Monday:
-I finished Elizabethtown since I fell asleep during it
-I took a shower
-I played Solitaire
-I went to Janelle's apartment
-I went to Brick Oven
-I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond and Kohls with Janelle
-I went to Janelle's FHE, on accident. She forgot about it. It was awkward.
-I came home and my roommates were all back
-I listened to Roommate 2's description of her mothers surprised look when she walked in the door
-I wrote this blog post
As you can see... I did not do homework. I did not study for tests. I did not clean my room. I did not do other cleaning. Overall, I'd say the weekend was a success if I wasn't aiming for getting much done. Not quite as successful as the last long weekend when we went to Mindy's grandparents house... that was a good weekend, but this one was pretty close.

Everybody needs...
an Uncle Russ. Mind you, Russ is not my uncle, but my old roommate, Allison's uncle. He also is now a Hall Advisor and lives in a building right near me. This morning I went out to shovel the snow/ice from my building and then Russ was out going around with ice melt and a shovel fixing/finishing spots that his RAs missed and clearing the sidewalk. We started talking and then he came and helped me with my stairs! And then he threw ice melt down. We had a most excellent time talking as we shoveled. A few weekends ago Uncle Russ and Auntie Adri drove Allison, Jenny and I to Tucanos for lunch. We had a blast there stuffing our faces with some amazing meats. Oh man! Basically, Uncle Russ is the best and everybody needs and Uncle Russ. Everyone also needs an Auntie Adri. She makes me laugh, a lot. She also was the one that gave me my Chastity Slide. It really just doesn't get much better.

It's Been a While...
It's almost been a week since I have blogged. CRAZY! So much has happened in the last week... that's why I haven't blogged. I took three midterms, turned in two papers, worked a couple of nights, and had a great weekend doing some fun things!
I have my names for my roommates (Roommate 1-4... not creative) but last week I also learned that my Hall Advisor (my bff) is the Queen of America. Rather than referring to her as my bff or my HA or by her name (which is Megan) I am going to refer to her as the Queen of America from now on. Best part of her name, is that she doesn't remember why that was her name. Good story. I know.
This weekend is a long weekend, so all of my roommates are leaving for the the weekend. Some of them are leaving on Thursday and the rest are leaving on Friday. They all are coming back sometime on Monday. This means I have an apartment to myself. And the potential for some long days/nights. Friday I'm going to see Divine Comedy (www.divinecomedy.net) and I am so excited for that. Saturday is the on-campus-housing Invitational dance, so I get to work for an hour to set it up. Monday I'm meeting up with a friend I haven't seen yet this semester. I'm so excited to spend some time with her. My plan is to spend a lot of the weekend doing homework. I have two midterms next week and I would love to take them both on Tuesday. Normally that couldn't happen because everything on campus shuts down for an hour for devo, and my classes are spaced oddly, and then there is staff meeting in the night. However, this holiday is not a normal one at BYU. Since we have Monday off, Tuesday will be Monday classes. That means I should have plenty of time to take my tests on Tuesday!
Next week is cleaning checks again... That means that it has almost been a month since I had the flu, because I threw up between cleaning checks last month. Yay for the flu.
This is turning really really really random. I should probably go to sleep soon, but I have my staff meeting in a few minutes. I decided blogging was the best use of my time right now because I need to leave soon for my meeting and I didn't want to get started on my Family Finance homework because I figure it will take me a while to do it.
It snowed this morning and that made me not happy.
On Monday I got to play with the Queen of America's baby! When I got there to watch teh boys while the Queen went to her one-on-one meeting with her boss both of her boys were asleep, but pretty soon after she left the baby woke up. We made faces at each other and we played with my phone. He is so darn cute! I was sad that her older son didn't wake up, he's super cute too! But, it was so nice to be around kids again. I've decided that I really miss all the babysitting that I used to do, especially for my three core families. I never realized how attached to those particular kids I was until I came out to school and didn't have any kids to play with let alone the particular ones I was used to. I can' wait to see my kids this summer at the family reunion! YAY!
Alright. Meeting time is quickly approaching... so I'm out. Maybe I'll write a more coherent post after the meeting is over, but then again maybe I won't.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRAD! And Happy Birthday to Val, yesterday!

Manicotti = Success
I obviously haven't learned the art of uploading pictures in the order I want. This was dinner tonight at my apartment. I cooked. And it was amazing. At the top we have the finished product... Two Cheese Manicotti, Green Beans, French Bread and Raspberry Lemonade. TASTY!
I was so excited to use my Pampered Chef Micro-cooker for something other than a can of soup. It was FABULOUS. The French Bread was freshmade this morning... when I bought it it was still super squishy! Oh man it was good. And Raspberry Lemonade. It just doesn't get much better than Country Time.
This was my first experience making manicotti, and it for sure will not be the last. I am a HUGE fan and so are my roommates. Next time... I'm adding meat I think. We'll see how that goes. Filling the manicotti shells kinda sucked. I've got to figure out a better technique. YAY FOR MANICOTTI!
Best dinner we've had all week, and maybe even all semester. And I'm not exaggerating. Everyone was standing in the kitchen hovering over the oven waiting for it to come out. It smelled so good, and everyone was so excited to eat it! Success!

Just in Case...
The moral of the story...
When I woke up this morning I vaguely remembered blogging last night as I searched for my phone. I think the moral of that blog post should be something like "don't leave your computer on when you go to bed." I don't recall sitting down and writing that post, but it's pretty good! I can't decide if that's a habit I want to pick up and do that regularly, or if last night was the first and the last time I'll post in my half-asleep mode.
On another note, I started cleaning my room back up today. It looks a lot better already, but still nowhere near the perfection I want. It doesn't help that I borrowed some piano books from people and checked some out at the library and pulled all of mine out... piano music is all over the place.

This was going to be a post about...
...this bad habit I have. I finish my homework, pull up solitaire and my new playlist on pandora, and play solitaire until I realize what time it is. Then I get ready for bed. I get as far as getting into my bed and almost falling asleep, and then... I realize! I didn't set my alarm. Not only did I not set my alarm, but I don't even know where my phone is, so I can't set my alarm. Roommates are all asleep, so I can't just have them call my phone so I can find it, but that wouldn't help tonight anyway... my phone is on silent still from being in the testing center for 2+ hours.
And that is now what this post turns into. I had my first Stats midterm today. 54 questions. 2+ hours. AND the testing center was PACKED! I had to go to some tiny little overflow room that made me really uncomfortable. And I had to sit there for 2+ hours. At the end I realized that the whole time I had been sitting next to a girl that was in my building last year.
And that is where this post goes next. This girl who was in my building last year is a twin. Her twin was also in our building. Her twin got engaged over the weekend. I think 7 girls from my building last year are now engaged. Stephanie, Quinta, Katelyn, Brittany, Krystal, someone else I don't remember their name but she lived in the bedroom above me... oh, and then our RA got married. I think that equals 7. Anyway, it's funny to run into those girls on campus now and see them wearing their rings. CRAZY!
And now... this post goes in a direction I haven't yet planned. My room being spotless lasted a little over a week. Then yesterday/today happened. Yesterday I was studying for an exam, filling out some forms for work, and ate dinner in my room. Erase that, I don't remember eating dinner last night. Eating dinner in my room happened tonight. Oh, and last night for dinner we had pork chops, I remember now. So I had a bowl in my room from eating Bean with Bacon soup. I hadn't eaten Bean with Bacon soup since I left home for college over a year and a half ago. Way to bring back memories, Campbells! Bean With Bacon Soup and Cheese Toast, around the old old kitchen table (the one that had the nasty blue bench around it, the one that I always got squished in the corner, that one). I haven't thought of that ugly, uncomfortable blue bench in years. Now, random thought about the blue bench. Remember that little door thing under it that was a cupboard that mom would store cookbooks in? (or maybe I put them down there... I'm really not sure) Did that little space have mice in it? Maybe I was just told it had mice in it... kind of like how I was told we had a dog named Dover? And I so believed that story too. I even wrote a story about Dover in 1st grade about how sad I was that Dover died. Ms. Hansen even thought it was a sad story, she felt bad for our family. Having our dog get runned over. And then... I find out we never had a dog named Dover, and our dog named Dover never did get runned over... Curse being the youngest! Will anyone back me up with the cupboard thing under the bench? And maybe, maybe mom put cook books down there? And... were there ever mice?
Okay. That was really random. But, that's okay. That's kind of how I think. And I think I needed to talk about Dover. Maybe I should seek counseling because of Dover. Or the lack thereof. Maybe while I'm at it I should get counseling for the lack of Baby Ted. But maybe not, Baby Ted was very useful as a child. I blamed him for everthing.
On that note. I think I'm going to turn the light on and find my phone. And then set my alarm. And then go to bed. And maybe tomorrow I will buy an alarm clock that is not part of my phone. Then this would not be a regular problem. Good idea? I think so!

Church
Today was the best Sunday I've ever experienced in my current ward. For some reason, all three meetings were actually really good... which doesn't normally happen.
Sacrament Meeting was great. There is something awesome about testimony meeting. I loved when my girls went up to share their testimonies, especially the girls that I've been helping recently. Watching them grow and knowing exactly what they were meaning when they got up was amazing. My girls have a lot of struggles, but they are doing their best to overcome them! That is one of the best feelings ever!
Relief Society was FABULOUS. Because it was Fast Sunday the RS president gave the lesson. Best ever! She based it off a book called "Better Than You Think You Are" which is about realizing your individual worth. It's by Ardeth G. Kapp. So many girls from our ward needed to hear that lesson. I love when the presidency teaches. They seem to really know how to teach, which is AMAZING compared to some of our other RS teachers. Kelli (the president) is also really aware of the needs of our sisters. I am so proud of her! She even wrote individual letters to each girl in our RS (that's 118 girls)and is going to bring them around later. She is great!
Sunday School was awesome! Roommate 1 taught with another one of my girls (they teach in pairs here... but they don't know who they are teaching with until they walk into the room, so they can't prepare together. That normally makes SS awkward just because they each create their own lesson...) and it TOTALLY worked! They both focused on different parts as they prepared so they were able to work well together to teach the whole lesson. It also helped that last week our ward started a Mission Prep class and so almost all of the guys were in that. We do have a few RMs and 2 17 year old guys that got to stay in normal Sunday School. Without guys around the girls are more willing to share and contribute to the lesson. Ya, it feels like a second go at RS, but it worked really well today.
My Hall Meeting went well too. It was about general safety, but we talked about things that our Secret Sisters had done for us this week (I love mine, btw) and it was really great. I loaned out my copy of Better Than You Think You Are and my copy of When Times Get Tough: 5 Scriptures that will help you through almost anything (by John Bytheway). My girls are amazing! I LOVE THEM!
On to my secret sisters... last week at Hall Meeting I assigned each apartment another apartment to be secret sisters for. The girls that I assigned to have my apartment got their assignment with a note that said "even though I know who you are, I'm not going to judge you if you don't do much... love you girls". They've gone above and beyond. One of the girls made brownies for us earlier this week, but today was even better. Before church the Elder's Quorum comes around to collect our Fast Offerings. We had a knock at our door, and it was the EQ guy, with 5 envelopes. He said "I was asked to give you these." One of our Secret Sisters watched us really closely in the last week and had things to say to each of us personally. Because she knew that I knew who it was she didn't try to hide it from me and mentioned how many times I unlock her door for her when she's locked out. She made my whole apartment really happy. It was just the beginning to a great Sunday!
Today has just been a great Sunday! And... it's only 3:45. There still is dinner and ward prayer, and a few hours of me doing my own thing. Yay for good Sundays!
