1. If the dishes fairy was looking for a house to stop at, I would nominate mine. Apparently I haven't done the dishes in a few days, and last night and tonights dinner both used a few pots/pans.
2. Sitting at church for 3 hours is really hard when you're 36 weeks pregnant. Luckily I get up every 30-45 minutes to go to the bathroom and take the chance to roam the halls a little before going back to whichever class I'm supposed to be in.
3. Ovens with a delay-start are genius. I had our dinner in the oven before we left but the oven didn't heat up or do anything to my food until about 40 minutes into church. Now we got home and had time to cook a vegetable and dinner is just about ready!
4. My second baby shower was yesterday. There were 6 types of cookies served at it. Even if you held a gun at my head and made me pick which one was the best I don't think I'd be able to pick. Even just the simple chocolate chip cookie was divine. I love my friends. And I love cookies. It was a book shower. I got lots of fun books for baby girl, and surprisingly I only got ONE book that I already owned, and it's one of my favorites (But Not the Hippopotamus by Sandra Boynton). As I opened the gifts everyone would comment "oh, my little girl LOVES this book" or "my little girl cries if I won't read her this book" or "this was our favorite version of Brown Bear, Brown Bear because it is interactive" and it was really fun! Book showers are totally the way to go. Well, if you like books. :)
5. We got our crib set up this week. Opened the Amazon box with the crib mattress in it to find a big ole slit on the topside of the mattress. It quickly went back in its box and went back to Amazon. The replacement should be here by Wednesday. Hopefully it doesn't have a huge slit in it. That just defeats the point of protecting the inards of the mattress from any sort of moisture that may find its way near the mattress.
6. Baby girl's room is starting to really come together. This week I washed all the newborn and 0-3 month clothes and put them away in her dresser. She has some really cute clothes. Again, I have killer friends, an awesome sister, and was the first one through the 0-3 month section at a big consignment sale a few weeks ago. Super stoked. I <3 Carter's onesies, and their footie pajamas. Basically my baby will be living in those two things til she's about 6 months old, or until she fits into the 6 month clothes, whichever is first.
7. At my 36 week appt on Thursday I measured 32 weeks! That means I grew a tiny bit in a week. Doc said that depending on how I am measuring at my 37 week appointment this coming week we may get sent in for another ultrasound. Baby girl measured just fine at my last ultrasound, and she's still pretty active, so there isn't a ton of concern, but it's better to be safe and get an extra ultrasound than not.
8. Chick-fil-a makes DELICIOUS strawberry milkshakes. Definitely better than Jack in the Box's strawberry milkshakes. Too bad Jack in the Box is around the corner and Chick-fil-a is kinda far.
9. I haven't really been reading much lately which is a bit of a bummer. I've got some good books on my kindle right now, and a good book checked out from the library. Hopefully I get the chance to read them a little more once I finish getting babys room put together (which hopefully will be this week!).
10. After I got to share my thoughts in RS last week, I've had a few well-intentioned people come up and offer to me what they thought was great advice about health problems. There is a total of one woman in our ward who understands what I'm going through because her husband has Meniere's as well, it's funny how all she did after last week was give me a hug and tell me she was sorry that Chris had not been feeling well. And the others... no, I'm not going to send my husband to a doctor you recommend who lives in Michigan. And we're already following the diet plan that his doctors have given him, so we're not going to try whatever fad diet you think may help even though you don't even know what is wrong with him, but thanks for sharing your opinion with me. I know people wanted to help, but it makes me laugh a little at how quick people are to offer their suggestions without knowing what the problem is. I'm just grateful we have a good team of doctors that we're seeing- our PCP (you already know we LOVE him!), our ENT (don't love him as much but he is good and does know all there is to know about Meniere's right now), his Opthamologist (don't see him regularly, but it's important to make sure we keep his contact/glasses prescription accurate so as not to make his headaches worse), his Neurologist (we finally saw him the first time this past week and we loved him, and he suffers from headaches himself so while he doesn't have Meniere's he at least does suffer from some of the same symptoms and was great to talk to), the Allergist... I'm trying to think if there are other doctors, but I can't think of any more off the top of my head. Between all of our doctors I think we've got enough to keep up with and do.
11. Yesterday we bought Baby Girl a Sophie the Giraffe. I hope she loves it as much as some of the other little kids I know have loved it.
Okay, now that I've reread #10 it makes me sound a little like a brat. I'm keeping it as is anyway because I blog my thoughts, and those are my thoughts. I appreciate the intentions of the sweet sisters in the ward, but they better not be offended when I don't ask for the name of their doctors or start buying whatever health products it is that they are selling.

I was telling a sister the other day how hard it is for my friend with her diabetes - how she has no insurance, no money, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. and can't take any meds.
She said, "I'm sure if she went on a vegan, raw whole foods diet, that would control her diabetes." Ugh! No, it would just make her more broke.
Brace yourself for all of the unwanted parenting advice next. :P Glad you had a wonderful shower!
My kids live in onesies and footie jammies too. I only ever dress them up when we go somewhere, which isn't often. It makes me sad that they don't get to wear the cute little outfits that often, but the onesies are so much more practical for staying at home. The cute outfits are a pain to change multiple times a day when they spit up or their diapers blow out. :)
Aren't we all just problem solvers? :) The good thing about advice is you can take it or leave it. And you're right - if they get offended when you don't take it - it's not your problem.
I'm so excited for 'baby girl' to arrive! Can't wait to see pics of her and her room!
Well, dear heart, I have a whole lot of advice for you: Don't listen to the unwarranted advice unless the Spirit so directs you. Just listen to mom, because as Rapunzel will tell you, "Mother knows best!" I, like Joanne, would love to see pictures of the nursery -- or perhaps we need to Facetime again soon! Love you!
Yes, its interesting to have people trying to offer help in a situation that isn't exactly like their own. That's when you really do just get to appreciate them for their intentions, thank them and know that you can go back to them if you really do feel compelled to receive advice. And as for onesies and footie pajamas, they are truly the best, but I would add another article of clothing to them-the gown. With the number of diapers you change in a day, I loved the gown when I wasn't travelling anywhere because you just pull the gown up without having to deal with snaps. The only time it isn't ideal is when you are strapping baby into something since it doesn't have legs.
You're so cute Marci. I don't think measuring a month smaller is such a bad thing because I'll bet you can still fit into all your maternity clothes. I used every excuse to sit on the couch at church because the chairs in YW killed me and we are huge Sandra Boynton fans at our house. And those are my random thoughts. :)
Oh and I second the gowns. Use them at night when you're sleep-deprived so you won't be defeated by buttons in your sleeplessness. The are awesome.
