...I held the infamous "Aunt Marci sleepover". I got home from school to find nobody home so I called mom's cell phone... which she didn't answer (not that I was surprised by that though). Then I called Paul's house and was surprised to have mom answer the phone. Paul & Jeanne were at the hospital with their brand new baby so mom was watching the kids. I hopped in my car, headed to Paul's house where I got the keys to the van and Ryan and Katie, and we headed to Paige's school to pick her up. Once I got Paige, the 4 of us headed up to the hospital so we could all see the baby! I was so excited!! We listened to the Chicken Little soundtrack, or at least the song "It's the End of the World" over and over again. I finally got to meet baby Tyler. We stayed at the hospital for a little while, then we piled back in the van where I called and ordered a pizza from Papa Johns and we headed to pick it up and go home. We watched a movie (I wish I remembered what we watched) and then we headed up to what was normally called "Grandma's house" but that night was "Aunt Marci's house". I do remember that from this point, we watched a princess movie on my bed. The girls, their dolls, and I then had the first, and last, Aunt Marci Sleepover in my bed. In the morning grandma made breakfast... I hadn't learned the art of pancakes yet (pathetic, I know).
In the last three years, Tyler has grown up quite a bit. He's not the little baby that he was before, now he's a big, tough 3 year old. And for the last year and a half I've watched him grow up from college. It's been sad to not be there as he's done new things since I was spoiled enough to watch his siblings all grow up.
I'll always remember the first time I went "home" from college, for Thanksgiving my freshman year. Jeanne and the kids picked me up from the airport and met me at the Baggage Claim. The girls and Ryan ran to me and gave me hugs and Tyler kind of looked at me for a minute and then ran over to me and gave me a big hug. I wasn't sure if he would remember me very much, but he did!
And then of course there is the summer I spent at home between freshman and sophomore years where I really got to watch him grow up a bunch. The trip back home to watch the BYU football game, and this most recent Thanksgiving at home.
Batman, you're sure growing up. I can't believe you're THREE!
Happy Birthday, Tyler!
